Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the GoDeutsch app and this website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

GoDeutsch is an independent study app for German language examinations — Goethe-Zertifikat, ÖSD, telc and TestDaF formats, across CEFR levels A1 to C1. We provide practice material, mock exams, automated feedback and progress tracking. We are not an examination body, we do not issue certificates, and we are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any examination organisation. All third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to create an account.
  • Accounts created with an email address must be verified through the sign-in link we send before they can be used.
  • You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it.
  • One account is for one person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

3. Free tier, subscriptions and billing

  • Parts of the app are free to use. Other features require a paid subscription.
  • Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms. We never see your payment details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Refunds are handled by the store you purchased from, according to that store’s policy.
  • Prices may change; changes apply to future billing periods and are announced in advance.

4. Realtime speech — usage limits

Realtime speech practice is a live, compute-intensive feature and is part of the paid plan. To keep it fast and sustainable for everyone, it is metered and subject to usage limits:

  • An allowance of live speaking sessions per billing period, according to your plan.
  • A maximum duration for any single speaking session, after which the session ends automatically.
  • A limit on how many sessions can be started in a short period, to prevent automated abuse.

The allowance that applies to you, and how much of it you have used, are shown in the app. Unused sessions do not carry over. We may adjust these limits — including raising, lowering or changing how they are measured — to keep the service stable and sustainable; material reductions will be announced in advance. Attempting to circumvent them (for example with multiple accounts, scripted clients or modified builds) may lead to suspension. All other study features continue to work regardless of your speech usage.

5. Automated feedback and no guarantee of results

Scores, corrections, level estimates and spoken responses are generated automatically and may contain errors. They are practice tools and predictions, not official assessments. Using GoDeutsch does not guarantee that you will pass any examination or reach any particular level. Always confirm the current format, fees and rules with your official examination centre.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not copy, scrape, redistribute or resell the exam content, audio or explanations.
  • Do not reverse engineer the app or interfere with its security, rate limits or billing.
  • Do not upload unlawful, abusive or infringing content, or use the speech feature to harass anyone.
  • Do not use the service to build or train a competing product or dataset.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the texts you write and the speech you produce. You grant us a limited licence to process them so that we can provide the service — for example to transcribe a speaking session, generate feedback and show your history. Speech audio is processed live and not stored; only the transcript is kept. We do not use your content for advertising.

8. Our content

The app, its design, software, practice items, audio and explanations are protected by copyright and remain our property or that of our licensors. Your subscription grants a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use them for your own exam preparation.

9. Availability and changes

We aim for a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. If a change materially reduces a paid feature, we will inform subscribers.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that abuses usage limits, or where required by law. Statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost study time, exam fees, missed opportunities, or results of any examination. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Where liability is limited, it is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of our place of establishment, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.

13. Changes to these terms

We will post updates on this page with a new date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
